NEW: VIRTUAL PRODUCTION STUDIO

Exciting News: Howest – DAE launches a State-of-the-Art Virtual Production Studio!

Digital Arts & Entertainment (powered by Howest) is thrilled to announce the official opening of our Virtual Production (VP) studio via ribbon-cutting by our rector Frederik D’hulster alongside Flemish Minister of Media Cieltje Van Achter. This state-of-the-art facility will allow our students to push the limits of creativity, merging the magic of filmmaking with the latest technology for stunning visual effects and immersive worlds created in real time.

Our new VP studio stands apart from traditional compositing techniques, like rear projection or chroma keying, by enabling real-time rendering of digital creations, allowing students to see their work come to life instantly. Complete with advanced LED screens and motion capture capabilities, it fosters a collaborative space where students and industry experts can push creative boundaries together.

This innovation is not only a powerful addition to our curriculum but also a vital tool for DAE Research, made possible with the support of VLAIO - Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship. By bridging applied research and education, our VP studio prepares students for the next wave of advancements in the creative industry.

Special thanks to our partners Play AV, Leyard, and Brompton Technology for making this vision a reality.

Stay tuned for behind-the-scenes insights and student projects that bring these capabilites to life!
