This course focuses on the animation preproduction pipeline for a 2D Animatic.

For that you will analyse the secrets behind film and cinematography to be able to stage and block a scene. You will learn how to develop an idea into visual storytelling, deal with the 180 degree rule and experiment with the screen position of your frame: close up, medium shot or establishing long shot and high, low and dutch tilt camera angles all along with the relevant camera movement. In this editorial preproduction stage you will direct the scene and cut fluently each shot into the following one.

First exercise on this content is a photoboard. We then continue drawing storyboards with basic stickfigures in several keyposes and backgrounds with front-, middle and backlayers which will end up in a well-timed 2d-animatic with sound.

Software used: Adobe Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects.
