Sound 4

This specialist course, Sound 4, previously entitled "Spatialization", gives specialist insights and zones in on one of the four content fields Game Sound Designers and junior Audio Programmers have to be regularly involved with.

The emphasis is on sound spatialization. Closely linked to the atmos(there) in game environments, students learn the basics of 2nd and 3rd degree spatialization, 4.0, 4.1, 5.0, 5.1 surround, Dolby Atmos, Binaural, Ambisonics, AI for immersive sound and VST-plugins to facilitate this both in middleware, in-engine and in their DAWs.

During the semester, students are regularly required to submit intermediary exercises on the topic. For the exam, students are required to present a fully spatialized atmos (to go alongside a game level) for a middle-size game project.

Graduates of this course are sufficiently knowledgeable about spatialization to tackle it both in linear and non-linear formats.
